The Seven Chakras and Their Crystals
A simple guide to the seven chakras, their colours, and the crystals traditionally paired with each one.

In yoga and Reiki traditions, the chakras are seven energy centres running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Each one has its own colour and theme, and crystal practitioners pair stones of matching colour to each centre.
1. Root chakra: Muladhara
Base of the spine · Red and black · Grounding, safety, stability
Crystals: black tourmaline, black obsidian, smoky quartz, hematite, red jasper
2. Sacral chakra: Svadhisthana
Below the navel · Orange · Creativity, pleasure, flow
Crystals: carnelian, moonstone, orange calcite
3. Solar plexus chakra: Manipura
Upper abdomen · Yellow · Confidence, willpower
Crystals: citrine, tiger’s eye, pyrite
4. Heart chakra: Anahata
Centre of the chest · Green and pink · Love, compassion
Crystals: rose quartz, green aventurine, jade, malachite
5. Throat chakra: Vishuddha
Throat · Blue · Communication, truth
Crystals: lapis lazuli, sodalite, turquoise
6. Third eye chakra: Ajna
Between the brows · Indigo · Intuition, insight
Crystals: amethyst, labradorite, fluorite
7. Crown chakra: Sahasrara
Top of the head · Violet and white · Connection, peace
Crystals: clear quartz, selenite, howlite
A simple chakra layout
Lie down somewhere comfortable and place one stone on, or beside, each chakra point, from root to crown. Breathe slowly for ten to fifteen minutes, then remove the stones in reverse order, starting at the crown.
