About amethyst
Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz, coloured by traces of iron and natural irradiation in the earth. Its name comes from the Ancient Greek amethystos, meaning 'not intoxicated', because the Greeks believed it kept the mind clear. For centuries it has been one of the most loved stones in crystal practice, kept by the bed, in meditation spaces and anywhere people want a calmer atmosphere.
How to use it
Place a tumble stone under your pillow or on your bedside table as part of a wind-down ritual. Hold a piece during meditation, or set a cluster in a room you want to feel more peaceful.
Care & cleansing
Water-safe. Keep out of strong direct sunlight, which can slowly fade the purple colour. Cleanse on a selenite plate, with sound or under moonlight.
